Co-President
Grecia Paola Siono Gutierrez
Pronouns: She/Her/Ella
Year: 3rd Transfer
Major: Electrical Engineering
As Co-President I will work to nurture the technical skills of our members and help them overcome the challenges of impostor syndrome that can sometimes hold us back from pursuing incredible opportunities like fellowships, research, and internships. I deeply believe in the talent and resilience within our community, and I know that with the right support and resources, we can unlock our full potential.
This year, I want to provide opportunities for our members to develop these skills through initiatives such as the REACH hackathon, Graduate Roadmap, and Technical Workshops. Additionally, I am excited to create an all-Latino-led engineering project group to showcase the incredible talent SHPE has to offer. I also hope to secure more funding to support our members’ growth in STEM. My ultimate goal is to help our members reach their fullest potential and have a fulfilling and successful STEM journey.
I also hope that our chapter and leadership will be recognized as the best chapter at the national convention, as our collective efforts deserve this recognition.

Co-President
Andrea Ortiz Lopez
Pronouns: She/Her/Ella
Year: 3rd
Major: Structural Engineering

As Co-President, I aim to continue growing and fostering our SHPE community, help increase our financial income, offer workshops that represent our members’ needs, and expand mentorship and leadership opportunities. It is important that as a board, we increase our impact as a Hispanic serving Institution by reaching more Hispanic students in STEM, thus raising and heightening our support and influence across campus.
A key part of this vision includes reviving large-scale events such as Graduate Road Map and REACH, as they are critical touch points for professional development and community engagement. Though these are my goals, it requires a strengthened, and unified board. Therefore, I aim to ensure a closer collaboration among the executive board members. I will achieve this by supporting each member in fulfilling their roles and the goals that come along with their positions. This way we can strengthen our leadership and continue to pave a sustained growth within SHPE at UC San Diego.

Vice President - Internal
Gael Fernandez
Pronouns: He/Him
Year: 3rd
Major: Structural Engineering
In my role this year, I hope to help others receive the same support and guidance I’ve had the opportunity of receiving through SHPE. I’d like to help maintain the supportive and empowering community that we have at SHPE at UCSD, and hope to facilitate smooth operations within our chapter and board. Through tabling and collaborative events, I’d like to help more people learn about and benefit from the social, academic, and professional support that SHPE at UCSD provides. I’d also like to enhance the spirit of community within our chapter through a variety of merchandise and through intramural sports teams.

Vice President - Finance
Gabriela Perez

Year: 3rd
Major: Math-Computer Science

As VP Finance, I hope I can support our chapter with financial literacy initiatives that allow our committees to run events with ease! This means supporting committees with finding resources, connecting them with opportunities, and ensuring a smooth reimbursement process throughout the year. I hope to also implement fundraising initiatives that benefit our organization as a whole!

Vice President - External
Ariele Campos
Pronouns: She/Her/Ella
Year: 4th
Major: Structural Engineering

This year, as VP External, I hope to strengthen SHPE’s relationships with industry partners and create more opportunities for members to connect with professionals in STEM. I plan to expand our corporate network to bring in new sponsors and collaborators who are passionate about supporting Hispanic talent. One of my key goals is to organize high-impact events such as Professional Evening with Industry and professional development workshops that directly lead to internship and job opportunities. I also want to help more members by being the main point of contact when needing any career and professional support by guiding them to professional contacts. Ultimately, I aim to create meaningful, career-building experiences that empower our members and support their long-term success.

Marketing Director
Maxwell Urbina
Pronouns: He/Him
Year: 3rd

As PR Chair, my goal is to help build a strong, welcoming community where every student feels they belong. I want SHPE to be more than just a professional organization! I want it to feel like a second home. Whether it's through creative outreach, inclusive events, or stronger connections across campus, I aim to create a space where members feel supported, seen, and proud to be part of our familia.

SHPE Jr Representative
Angel Cortez Gutierrez
Pronouns: She/Her
Year: 3rd
Major: Computer Science

This year, I hope to strengthen the connection between UCSD's SHPE chapter and the SHPE Junior chapters in local San Diego high schools. I hope that our SHPE chapter can be a motivation to young high school students to pursue STEM and engineering through the Noche de Ciencias event and the MentorSHPE program. Also, I hope to create a welcoming environment for incoming UCSD students to join the SHPE familia. By leading the freshman committee I want to provide guidance and support to new students in SHPE.

Academic Chair
Noe Gonzalez
Pronouns: He/Him
Year: 2nd Transfer
Major: Computer Science
This year I hope you hold more study jams leading to the students getting better understanding of the material and to better inform the members of their opportunities to seek higher education.

Youth Outreach Chair
Emerson Miranda Ramirez
Pronouns: He/Him
Year: 4th
Major: Electrical Engineering
For me I would want to help support my other outreach chair members as even though we have our own main responsibilities within our roles I would want to make sure they would still be able to get help and know that they have people who have their backs when times get rough. Also continue on what was built by the prior youth outreach chair such as the SD Festival of Sciences which was the first time shpe has been a part of it and would want to have it as a reoccurring event for years to come. Collab with other outreach organizations as it will not only help us network and gain connections with other organizations/clubs but also help us expand to different audiences or groups of individuals, and Finally just build a strong and welcoming outreach committee as it was one of the main things that kept me coming back to SHPE every week and made me feel very involved, I would want to pave it forward for this upcoming year.

General Outreach Chair
Adriel Landeros
Pronouns: He/Him
Year: 3rd
Major: Electrical Engineering
As General Outreach chair, I hope to have more projects for Outreach and to work with my fellow board members in order to give people more opportunities to help our community. Also to keep many of the successful outreach events from last year. We want to keep growing our SHPE Outreach community and help our community with more events that we will plan. I want to make Outreach a space that is both professional but can be fun at the same time, to be a space where we can help our community but also be a break from the tough workload college life has for us.

Social Chair
Kenia Roman Ortiz
Pronouns: He/Him
Year: 3rd
Major: Math - CS
As Social chair I hope to bring everyone together through fun activities and events! And most importantly provide our organization with lasting memories.

Empower Chair
Samuel Herrera
Pronouns: He/Him
Year: 2nd
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Having been aware of SHPE during my years in high school and being involved with a SHPE Jr. Chapter taught me the opportunities that SHPE can offer the younger generations. I know that the SHPE Mission is not limited to the university level; rather, it reaches down as early as possible. I believe that reaching out to the next generation of Hispanic engineers is key to promoting the mission. This is the reason why I chose to run for EMPOWER Outreach Chair. I hope to plan a great event that students can get a lot out of and be inspired to follow their passion. I also want to take the opportunity to present other outreach ideas that I feel would greatly benefit the younger generations in our community. In general, I hope to make a greater impact than I ever did as President of the SHPE Jr. Chapter at my high school.

REACH Ideathon Chair
Zyanya Isabella Rios
Pronouns: She/Her
Year: 3rd
Major: Computer Engineering
As the Ideathon Chair, my goal is to build a community that empowers students passionate about innovation. This community will encourage students to learn from each other, collaborate to bring ideas to life, and gain the practical skills needed for the workforce.

Technical Chair
Allison Dominguez Fernandez
Pronouns: He/Him
Year: 3rd
Major: Nano Engineering
As the incoming Technical Chair I want to keep empowering our members through the development of skills important for their careers. Through workshops, hands-on projects, and by supporting the development of the Reach hackathon with my future co-chair, I want to create opportunities for our SHPE familia to thrive and strengthen their skills while helping them prepare for industry and/or academia.

SHPEtinas Director
Brenda Ramirez
Pronouns: He/Him
Year: 3rd
Major: General Biology
As SHPEtinas Director, my goal is to keep showing up for women in STEM and create a space where our members feel empowered, celebrated, and supported. I want them to know they deserve a seat at the table, can thrive in a male-dominated field, and embrace their femininity proudly. Whether it’s through outreach, professional development, or social events, I hope to build community and help everyone feel seen and valued. I’m also really excited to collaborate with other women-led orgs to grow those connections, create a strong sense of belonging, and keep lifting each other every step of the way.

Transfer Chair
Elisa Flores
Pronouns: She/Her
Year: 2nd Transfer
Major: Cogs Sci - Neuro
I hope to help those that are/were in a similar situation. Being a transfer is hard due to the limited time we have. We want to make friends, gain experience, get good grades, and have fun. All this is expected or desired to happen in the span of about two years. So, I want to build a space for these individuals to help out where I can in connecting them with professionals, peers, and opportunities. Also, I hope to create an environment where everyone feels welcomed and cared for.
